The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says one person remains in custody as investigations continue into the attempted disposal of bodies at the Cumuto Cemetery.

Police said no charges have been laid at this time as enquiries are ongoing.

The update follows actions taken on Wednesday when investigators executed several search warrants at multiple locations. Police said these exercises form part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.

According to the TTPS, a number of persons of interest have been identified. Police said arrangements are being made to conduct further interviews with these individuals.

Investigators said the list includes persons who may assist with enquiries, including representatives of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.

Police said the investigation remains active as officers work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The TTPS stated that efforts are continuing to gather information and conduct interviews linked to the case.

Police also said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The development comes as investigators continue work across several locations tied to the probe.

The TTPS said the matter remains under investigation and no further details can be provided at this stage.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the TTPS.

Last Saturday, the TTPS launched an urgent investigation following the discovery of multiple human remains at the Cumuto Cemetery.

Officers from the Cumuto Police Station responded to information received and secured the location, while Crime Scene Investigators carried out a detailed forensic examination.
