Police are investigating an assault with intent to rob reported on Tuesday along the Eastern Main Road, San Juan.
Around 10 am, a 64-year-old retiree was on the compound of JR Tech TT near Caribbean Glass Specialists Limited when three male suspects approached.
Reports state the victim was on a ladder painting a gate when he was approached from behind, grabbed and pulled to the ground. The suspects assaulted him and attempted to take a gold chain from his neck.
Workers in the area intervened. The suspects left the scene on foot heading east.
Officers of the Port of Spain Capital City Patrol Unit responded and detained two suspects along the Priority Bus Route, San Juan.
Police identified them as a 16-year-old male of Sealots and a 20-year-old male of Sealots. Both remain in custody assisting officers.
A third suspect is being sought. Police describe him as a male of African descent, slim build, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a brown complexion.
The victim received injuries and was treated.
Crime Scene Investigators are expected to process the scene. Officers are also seeking CCTV footage.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the San Juan Police Station or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
