Investigations are ongoing into the shooting death of a 25-year-old labourer in Penal yesterday.
Collis Meade of Sunrees Road, Penal, died while undergoing treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital around 10:30 am.
Meade walked with his 35-year-old common-law wife, his wife’s cousin, and a girlfriend along the S.S. Erin Road when a white car exited Batchyia Trace and stopped alongside them.
The front seat passenger alighted and fired several shots at them, then re-entered the car which sped off.
Meade sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Siparia Health Facility before being transferred to the hospital.
Crime scene investigators retrieved eight spent shells at the scene. Investigators are still trying to ascertain why he was killed.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
