32 arrested; 104 warrants executed in operation

Thir­ty‑two peo­ple were ar­rest­ed and more than 100 war­rants ex­e­cut­ed dur­ing a ma­jor po­lice op­er­a­tion across the South West­ern Di­vi­sion on Mon­day.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) con­firmed that the Tri‑Di­vi­sion­al War­rant Op­er­a­tion ran from mid­night to 6:00 p.m., tar­get­ing in­di­vid­u­als want­ed for out­stand­ing war­rants. Of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed 104 war­rants in to­tal, in­clud­ing Traf­fic Court (TAC), af­fil­i­a­tion, and com­mit­tal war­rants.

Those de­tained in­clude 31 men and one woman, rang­ing in age from 20 to 63 years. The ar­rests spanned sev­er­al com­mu­ni­ties, in­clud­ing Siparia, Fyz­abad, Pe­nal, Oropouche, Ce­dros, La Brea, Point Fortin, Ran­cho Que­ma­do, Guapo, and Cap‑de‑Ville.

The op­er­a­tion was spear­head­ed by ACP Re­my, Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Thomp­son, and Su­per­in­ten­dent Jag­ger­nath. It was co­or­di­nat­ed by As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dents Forbes, Cor­rie, and Lewis, and su­per­vised by Act­ing In­spec­tor Lewis‑Ather­ton. Of­fi­cers at­tached to the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Court and Process Branch al­so played a key role in the ex­er­cise.

Po­lice said the ini­tia­tive forms part of on­go­ing ef­forts to bring of­fend­ers be­fore the courts and en­hance pub­lic safe­ty. By fo­cus­ing on out­stand­ing war­rants, the TTPS aims to re­duce crime and en­sure ac­count­abil­i­ty among in­di­vid­u­als who have evad­ed jus­tice.

Au­thor­i­ties em­pha­sized that war­rant op­er­a­tions are crit­i­cal to main­tain­ing law and or­der, par­tic­u­lar­ly in com­mu­ni­ties where un­re­solved cas­es can con­tribute to in­sta­bil­i­ty. The TTPS not­ed that the ar­rests and war­rant ex­e­cu­tions rep­re­sent a sig­nif­i­cant step in strength­en­ing pub­lic con­fi­dence in law en­force­ment.

The South West­ern Di­vi­sion con­tin­ues to be a fo­cal point for po­lice ac­tiv­i­ty, with of­fi­cers pledg­ing to sus­tain op­er­a­tions that tar­get of­fend­ers and up­hold com­mu­ni­ty safe­ty.
