$1.5m in cannabis, ammunition seized at Grande Riviere cemetery

Po­lice seized 53 kilo­grammes of cannabis with an es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of $1.53 mil­lion and 20 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing search­es in Matelot and Grande Riv­iere on Sun­day.

The items were found in sev­er­al black plas­tic bags in an area near the Grande Riv­iere Pub­lic Ceme­tery dur­ing an op­er­a­tion be­tween 4am and 8am.

The cannabis and am­mu­ni­tion were seized and tak­en to the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion.

Sev­er­al res­i­dences and aban­doned struc­tures in Matelot and Grande Riv­iere were al­so searched un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions, 2026.

No one was ar­rest­ed.
