Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakour, met with His Excellency William Sidney Bush Howard, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, as part of efforts to strengthen the civil aviation sector.
The discussions focused on strengthening air transport cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia, exploring opportunities for establishing air services, and advancing technical collaboration in aviation safety and regulatory systems.
The meeting addressed frameworks for air services between the two countries and mechanisms for cooperation among aviation authorities. Talks included matters related to safety oversight, regulatory alignment and information exchange.
Minister Zakour said the aviation sector remains a component of economic activity and transport connectivity. He noted the role of air links in trade, tourism and business movement between the Caribbean and South America.
Ambassador Howard referenced existing relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia and the potential for expanded air connectivity.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation stated that engagement with international partners will continue as part of its programme for sector development.
The Ministry said discussions with regional and hemispheric counterparts form part of its agenda for air transport and regulatory cooperation.
