Woman killed in highway accident

A 55-year-old woman has been iden­ti­fied as the pedes­tri­an killed af­ter be­ing struck by a ve­hi­cle along the east­bound car­riage­way of the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way near the Tumpuna Road in­ter­sec­tion yes­ter­day af­ter­noon, ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port.

Po­lice said the vic­tim is Sher­ryann Joseph, 55, of LP 12 Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way, Waller­field.

The re­port said the dri­ver was pro­ceed­ing east along the high­way around 3.20 pm when a brown Hyundai Elantra pulled to­wards his ve­hi­cle. He took eva­sive ac­tion to avoid a col­li­sion but struck Joseph.

Of­fi­cers lat­er found Joseph, who had been wear­ing a green top and black suede pants, ly­ing in a drain near­by.
