The West Indies suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of South Africa in its second Super 8s match of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad.
Having lost the toss and was asked to bat first, the West Indies lost wickets consistently. At one point, the regional side was 83 for seven at the midway point. Romario Shepherd struck an unbeaten 52 from 37 balls while Jason Holder made 49 from 31 balls to lift the Windies to 176 for eight from their 20 overs.
South Africa had little trouble getting to its target scoring 177 for one in 16.1 overs. Captain Aiden Markram hit an unbeaten 82 from 46 balls while his opening partner Quinton de Kock scored 47.
The West Indies next plays India on Sunday.
