Venezuelan teen electrocuted on Marabella jobsite

A 19-year-old Venezue­lan na­tion­al was elec­tro­cut­ed while work­ing on a job­site in Mara­bel­la yes­ter­day.

Dead is Jose Gre­go­ry Her­rera of St Julien Vil­lage, Princes Town.

Her­rera was work­ing with a Moru­ga con­trac­tor and oth­er labour­ers around 4.30pm at Unit 5, Trop­i­cal Plaza, along the South­ern Main Road. They were do­ing con­struc­tion work for Per­sads D Food King when he tried to un­plug a Hilti jack­ham­mer from an ex­ten­sion cord.

Eye­wit­ness­es said Her­rera sud­den­ly col­lapsed, falling on his back in a se­mi-con­scious state. The con­trac­tor and an­oth­er work­er took him to the South­ern Med­ical Clin­ic, where he died around 5.28pm.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be done at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre.
