Valencia man killed in Good Friday shooting

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the killing of a 42-year-old man at his home along the East­ern Main Road, Va­len­cia Stretch, San­gre Grande, in the ear­ly hours of Good Fri­day.

Sher­man Lam­bkin, de­scribed as a state wit­ness in a pre­vi­ous mur­der in Va­len­cia, was shot dead around 2.45am.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, his wife was asleep when Lam­bkin ar­rived home and en­tered the house. As he went in­to the kitchen, a man kicked open the door and opened fire. She re­port­ed hear­ing sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions and see­ing flash­es as Lam­bkin fell. The gun­man then stood over him and con­tin­ued shoot­ing be­fore flee­ing.

The woman lat­er found her hus­band un­re­spon­sive with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds to the head and up­per body and con­tact­ed po­lice.

Of­fi­cers from San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion and Va­len­cia Po­lice Post re­spond­ed, along with the Arou­ca Homi­cide Bu­reau, Re­gion 2. In­ves­ti­ga­tors found Lam­bkin ly­ing on the kitchen floor with gun­shot wounds to the head, chest, right hand and left leg.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors processed the scene and re­cov­ered items of ev­i­den­tial val­ue. A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer pro­nounced death and or­dered the re­moval of the body pend­ing a post-mortem at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre.
