The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Carbon Zero Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (CZITT) to establish a framework for collaboration in education, research, innovation and technological development.
The agreement outlines opportunities for students and faculty, including internships, applied research and project-based training. It also provides for joint research initiatives, knowledge exchange and commercialisation of technologies developed through collaboration.
Under the arrangement, the institutions will work to advance innovation and digital infrastructure in Trinidad and Tobago and strengthen linkages between academia and industry.
Speaking at the signing, Professor Rean Maharaj, Acting President, UTT, said the university’s role extends beyond academic programmes.
“UTT carries a responsibility that goes beyond the delivery of academic programmes. We are here to support national development — to build capacity, to drive innovation, and to ensure that our country is prepared for the future,” Professor Maharaj said.
Mr Donald Baldeosingh, President, ENMAN Group and Founder, CZITT, said the partnership reflects shared goals in research and sustainability.
Both institutions stated that the MoU formalises collaboration in areas of mutual interest and establishes a structure for coordinated projects and initiatives.
UTT and CZITT said the partnership will support efforts related to sustainability and technological advancement in Trinidad and Tobago through research, training and industry engagement.
