Police investigators are trying to confirm the identity of a woman whose body was found along the North Coast Road on Wednesday night.

Police said officers of the Maraval Police Station received a report of a body on the road, near an agricultural shop around 10.44 pm and went to the scene.

On arrival, officers found the body of a woman, who appeared to be in her mid-twenties and of mixed descent.

Sources said the woman was approximately five feet and seven inches in height and was approximately 200 pounds. She was wearing a black skirt, brown cardigan and a pair of cream-coloured crocs.

Police said the woman was foaming at the mouth and nose and had a tattoo on her left forearm.

No marks of violence were visible on the body.

A district medical officer declared the woman dead.

Officers of the Region I Homicide Bureau are continuing enquiries.
