Two girls earn President’s Medals as 105 scholarships awarded

Eliz­a­beth Singh of Na­pari­ma Girls’ High School and Aaliyah Ser­rett of Bish­op Anstey High School East and Trin­i­ty Col­lege East have been award­ed the Pres­i­dent’s Medal for their out­stand­ing per­for­mance in the 2025 CAPE ex­am­i­na­tions.

The an­nounce­ment was made in the Low­er House on Fri­day by Ter­tiary Ed­u­ca­tion and Skills Train­ing Min­is­ter Pro­fes­sor Prakash Per­sad.

Singh topped the En­vi­ron­men­tal Stud­ies, In­for­ma­tion and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Tech­nol­o­gy, Math­e­mat­ics and Nat­ur­al Sci­ences group­ing, while Ser­rett won in the Busi­ness Stud­ies, Cre­ative and Per­for­ma­tive Stud­ies, Lan­guage Stud­ies, Mod­ern Stud­ies, Hu­man­i­ties and Tech­ni­cal Stud­ies group­ing.

Pro­fes­sor Per­sad al­so dis­closed that 105 na­tion­al schol­ar­ships were award­ed this year, 66 to fe­male stu­dents and 39 to males, at an an­nu­al cost of TT$35.8 mil­lion.

Con­grat­u­lat­ing the awardees, the min­is­ter said he hoped their suc­cess would in­spire oth­ers. He re­mind­ed schol­ar­ship re­cip­i­ents that their aca­d­e­m­ic per­for­mance would be mon­i­tored by the min­istry’s Schol­ar­ship De­part­ment and urged them to main­tain the re­quired cu­mu­la­tive grade point av­er­age.

Pro­fes­sor Per­sad added that the na­tion now looks for­ward to the schol­ars’ con­tri­bu­tions af­ter com­plet­ing their stud­ies.
