Police seized two firearms and quantities of ammunition during exercises in the Central and Tobago Divisions within the past 72 hours.
Between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday 3 March 2026, officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North), with members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, conducted an anti-crime exercise. Acting on intelligence, the team went to a bushy area off Bridal Road, Cunupia, and conducted a search.
Officers found a black plastic bag containing a firearm fitted with a magazine loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition. The items were seized.
In the Tobago Division, between 8:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on Monday 2 March 2026, officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force (Area North) conducted an exercise in the Moriah Police Station District.
At 9:10 p.m., officers received information and went to a bushy area off the roadway at Bamboo Hill, Les Coteaux. A search led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing a knapsack. Inside the knapsack was one Taurus firearm and two magazines. One magazine was loaded with nine rounds of 9mm ammunition and the other with ten rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The items were seized and processed by the Criminal Records Office for analysis.
