Two arrested for home invasions in Central

Of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion ar­rest­ed two men in con­nec­tion with re­ports of home in­va­sion dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the Cou­va Po­lice Dis­trict on Sat­ur­day.

Po­lice said the in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed be­tween 9 am and 1 pm on Feb­ru­ary 21. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, of­fi­cers car­ried out sur­veil­lance along South­ern Main Road and St John Road, St Mar­garet’s.

The ex­er­cise re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of two men, aged 34 and 45, both of Clax­ton Bay, in con­nec­tion with home in­va­sion re­ports.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, of­fi­cers re­cov­ered items be­lieved to be stolen prop­er­ty. These in­clud­ed mul­ti­ple De­Walt pow­er drills and grinders, bat­tery charg­ers, hand tools, a Klein in­frared volt­age tester, an IN­G­CO back­pack, a Red­mi Note 13 Pro 5G cel­lu­lar phone, a 48-inch Hi­tachi flat screen tele­vi­sion and an Ama­zon Fire­stick with ac­ces­sories.

Po­lice said the ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Bhag­wan­deen, Su­per­in­ten­dent Frank, ASP Reyes and In­sp Joseph. Field su­per­vi­sion was car­ried out by Sgt Samuel, Sgt Ram­di­al, Cpl Moti­ram, Cpl Hall and Cpl Joseph, along with of­fi­cers of the Cou­va CID and CDTF Area South.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.

Po­lice said the op­er­a­tions form part of on­go­ing in­tel­li­gence-dri­ven polic­ing and crime sup­pres­sion ef­forts with­in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion.
