Three held with stolen snacks in St Joseph

Three men were ar­rest­ed by po­lice min­utes af­ter they stole choco­late and fruit snacks from a goods truck in St Joseph on Mon­day.

Of­fi­cers of the St Joseph CID and the St Joseph War­rants Sec­tion re­ceived a re­port of a rob­bery at the cor­ner of the East­ern Main Road and the South­ern Main Road, Curepe, where the men had tak­en items from a truck.

The sus­pects were seen get­ting in­to a blue Hyundai Elantra. Po­lice is­sued an All Points Bul­letin (APB) for the ve­hi­cle and in­ter­cept­ed it on Welling­ton Street, St Joseph, short­ly af­ter.

A search of the car re­vealed two box­es of Caramel Choco­late and a box of fruit snacks val­ued at ap­prox­i­mate­ly $2,020. Of­fi­cers al­so found a cord­less De­Walt grinder, a screw­driv­er, a power­bank and a fold­ing knife.

When ques­tioned about the items, the men failed to ex­plain their ori­gin.

The three men, aged 28, 41 and 59, were ar­rest­ed and are ex­pect­ed to be ques­tioned fur­ther.
