Three held; rifle and ammunition seized in Cunupia

Three peo­ple were ar­rest­ed and a ri­fle and quan­ti­ties of am­mu­ni­tion seized dur­ing State of Emer­gency op­er­a­tions in Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said Task Force of­fi­cers from Ar­eas North and South con­duct­ed an Op­er­a­tion Steady Guard ex­er­cise in the Cunu­pia dis­trict be­tween 4 pm and 10 pm yes­ter­day.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers searched a house at Munroe Road, Cunu­pia. One ri­fle and an as­sort­ment of am­mu­ni­tion were found and seized dur­ing the search.

Po­lice ar­rest­ed three sus­pects in con­nec­tion with the find. They are a 33-year-old man of Cunu­pia, and a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both of Long­denville.

The op­er­a­tion formed part of on­go­ing State of Emer­gency op­er­a­tions be­ing con­duct­ed across the di­vi­sion.

Po­lice said the ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Bhag­wan­deen, Supt Frank, Supt Glodon, ASP Reyes and In­sp Joseph.
