Teen arrested in North Valsayn home invasion probe

Of­fi­cers of the Home In­va­sion Team ar­rest­ed a 17-year-old boy of Farm Road, St Joseph, dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tion on Tues­day in con­nec­tion with a re­cent home in­va­sion at Val­sayn Av­enue, North Val­sayn.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers act­ed on in­tel­li­gence that a sus­pect linked to the home in­va­sion re­port­ed on March 16 was in the Bangladesh area of St Joseph. Of­fi­cers went to the lo­ca­tion and, af­ter fur­ther en­quiries, ar­rest­ed the 17-year-old.

In keep­ing with pro­ce­dure, the sus­pect was cau­tioned un­der the Chil­dren’s Rules in the pres­ence of his broth­er.

He was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, where he was med­ical­ly ex­am­ined, be­fore be­ing tak­en to the Mara­cas/St Joseph Book­ing Cen­tre pend­ing fur­ther en­quiries.

Two sus­pects, a 22-year-old man from Port of Spain and a 14-year-old boy from St Joseph, were ar­rest­ed on the day of the in­ci­dent. A third sus­pect, who was armed, was shot and killed by po­lice dur­ing at­tempts to ap­pre­hend him.
