SoE yields 18 arrests, 10 charges on 1st day

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice car­ried out 95 op­er­a­tions on the first day of the State of Emer­gency (SoE), which be­gan on Tues­day, re­sult­ing in 18 ar­rests and the seizure of three firearms.

Ac­cord­ing to the op­er­a­tional re­port cov­er­ing March 3-4, of­fi­cers tar­get­ed 24 pri­or­i­ty of­fend­ers dur­ing co­or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cis­es across sev­er­al di­vi­sions.

Po­lice con­duct­ed 718 search­es of ve­hi­cles and premis­es and ex­e­cut­ed 36 traf­fic op­er­a­tions.

Of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed 18 peo­ple and charged ten of them.

Dur­ing traf­fic ex­er­cis­es, po­lice de­tect­ed 138 traf­fic of­fences.

Firearms seized in­clud­ed three pis­tols. No re­volvers were re­cov­ered dur­ing the re­port­ing pe­ri­od.

The fig­ures re­flect in­ten­si­fied en­force­ment ac­tiv­i­ty with­in the first 24 hours of the SoE as law en­force­ment agen­cies con­tin­ue op­er­a­tions aimed at dis­rupt­ing crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ty and ap­pre­hend­ing pri­or­i­ty tar­gets.
