Six people were arrested and quantities of cocaine were seized during an Anti-Crime Exercise conducted in the Princes Town Police District on Tuesday.
The exercise was carried out under the Southern Division Anti-Crime Initiative between 6.00 am and 4.00 pm and targeted robbery, larceny and narcotics offences within the district.
Police said officers attached to the Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department conducted reconnaissance and acted on information gathered during the operation, which resulted in several arrests.
A 35-year-old man of Ramdhanie Road, Indian Walk, was arrested for house breaking and larceny.
A 17-year-old male of St Croix Road, Princes Town, was arrested for robbery with aggravation.
A 19-year-old man of Railway Road, Princes Town, was arrested for robbery with aggravation.
A 36-year-old man of Jules Avenue, Princes Town, was arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Police said the cocaine seized weighed 29 grams.
A 43-year-old man of Pleasant’s Park, Claxton Bay, was arrested for possession of cocaine. The cocaine seized weighed two grams.
A 23-year-old man of Jules Avenue, Princes Town, was arrested for possession of cocaine. The cocaine seized weighed two grams.
Police said the exercise formed part of efforts under the Southern Division to address criminal offences in the Princes Town Police District. Investigations into the matters are continuing there.
Police said all six suspects were held for questioning and will be dealt with according to law following advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as required.
