A security officer has been granted bail after being charged with obstructing police officers in the execution of their duty following a report of a home invasion in Arima.
Tisha Badal, 29, appeared before Justice of the Peace Marilyn Martin on Tuesday where she was granted bail in the sum of $30,000. She is expected to reappear at the Arima High Court North on March 11.
Another security officer who was involved in the matter was allowed to leave pending further investigations.
According to police reports, officers of the Arima Police Station responded to a report of a home invasion at East Lakes, Tumpuna Road, Arima, on March 6.
Police said that when officers arrived at the gated community, which was manned by officers of a private security company, they identified themselves using their Trinidad and Tobago Police Service identification cards and informed the security personnel that they were responding to a report of a home invasion in progress.
Police said the officers were initially denied entry to the compound by the security personnel. Officers were only allowed access after a period of time had elapsed.
Upon entering the community and responding to the scene, officers interviewed the victim who reported that two men, one armed with a cutlass, forced their way into her home.
The men allegedly assaulted the victim and robbed her of a quantity of jewellery and electronic items before escaping.
The investigation was conducted by officers of the Northern Division North under Snr Supt Maynard-Wilson, Supt McKenzie, ASP Ablacksingh and ASP Balewa, and supervised by Insp David and Sgt Forgenie.
