Schoolgirl allegedly kidnapped, raped on way to school

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing an in­ci­dent where a 17-year-old girl was al­leged­ly kid­napped and raped by a PH taxi dri­ver on her way to school on Fri­day.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said around 7.25 pm on Fri­day, the vic­tim and her moth­er re­port­ed to the Las Lo­mas Po­lice Sta­tion what al­leged­ly hap­pened.

The moth­er said when she ar­rived home from work around 6.20 pm, her daugh­ter re­layed the in­ci­dent, and they both made their way to the po­lice sta­tion.

The teen said around 5.50 am, she was stand­ing at the cor­ner of Solomon Dri­ve, Chin Chin Road, Cunu­pia, await­ing her school trans­port when a man of African de­scent, who she does not know ap­proached her, stuck a knife at her waist and told her, “So hear what hap­pen­ing, doh move, if yuh move I would kill yuh.” The said man then pushed her to­wards a blue car that was parked near­by and in­to the back­seat. The at­tack­er then en­gaged the child lock be­fore dri­ving off.

The man then stopped at Chin Chin Road Junc­tion, where he stole the girl’s Sam­sung S25plus cell­phone, val­ued $8,000, and switched it off. He then took her to an apart­ment where he al­leged­ly raped her.

Po­lice were told that around 1.40 pm, the man dropped the teen girl off at Solomon Dri­ve, Chin Chin Dri­ve, Cunu­pia, and drove off.

A 33-year-old man was killed on Sat­ur­day morn­ing in what po­lice said was a gang-re­lat­ed in­ci­dent.

Po­lice said around 9.24 am, they re­spond­ed to an anony­mous call of a shoot­ing. On ar­rival, they found the body of Dwayne Baynes at the side of the road with a bi­cy­cle be­tween his legs. Baynes was rid­ing his bi­cy­cle along Mano Trace, En­ter­prise, when he was shot.

The welder, from Crown Trace, En­ter­prise, died at the scene.

Po­lice re­cov­ered five 9mm spent shells at the scene. Rob­bery was ruled out as a mo­tive, as Baynes had $607 on him, along with a pack of cig­a­rettes, a lighter, and a bunch of keys.

A 48-year-old woman was robbed of a $5,700 cell­phone af­ter she was giv­en a false proof of pay­ment re­ceipt.

Po­lice said the vic­tim met with the sus­pect around 6.30 pm on Oc­to­ber 29 at West Mall. The sus­pect and the vic­tim went to her Nizam Street, St James home, where she hand­ed over an Ap­ple iPhone 15 Pro Max, a white charg­ing block and ca­ble val­ued at US$29.99, a black trans­par­ent charg­er pro­tec­tor case val­ued at US$5, four rub­ber phone cas­es worth US$40, and a grey and white Guess slides val­ued $300.

The woman re­ceived a screen­shot via What­sApp of an on­line trans­fer from Sco­tia­bank to her Re­pub­lic Bank ac­count for the sum of $5,700 from the sus­pect’s al­leged hus­band. She then dropped the sus­pect off at KFC, St James.

The vic­tim re­port­ed to po­lice that to date she is yet to re­ceive the pay­ment for any items sold.

The sus­pect was iden­ti­fied as be­ing slim, light brown in com­plex­ion, ap­prox­i­mate­ly five feet, five inch­es tall. She was last seen wear­ing a black burqa with white ban­dages on her right hand. — Jensen La Vende
