Sangre Grande Hospital welcomes New Year’s babies

The first ba­by of the New Year at the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal Cam­pus was born just af­ter mid­night.

The East­ern Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty said a ba­by boy was de­liv­ered at 1:11 am on Jan­u­ary 1, 2026. The child, named Ethan, weighed 2,960 grammes (6.5 lbs).

The moth­er, Adan­na Ward of Mal­abar, de­liv­ered the ba­by with the as­sis­tance of li­censed mid­wife Von­net­ta Good­ing.

Lat­er that morn­ing, at 8:45 am, a sec­ond ba­by boy was born at the fa­cil­i­ty. His moth­er, Zen­nesha Sook­lal, de­liv­ered a child weigh­ing 2,830 grammes (6.3 lbs).

The Au­thor­i­ty said moth­ers and ex­pec­tant moth­ers on the ma­ter­ni­ty ward were giv­en gift bags to mark the New Year.
