Staff of Sagicor, their families and environmental partner Eco Titans Community planted 185 trees in Chaguaramas on Saturday as part of the company’s commemorative 185 Trees initiative.
The Hike and Plant event brought together about 133 staff members, children and relatives for an activity focused on environmental action and family participation.
The initiative forms part of a wider campaign across 16 markets where Sagicor operates, marking the company’s 185 years of service across the Caribbean and the Americas.
Organisers originally planned to plant 120 trees in Trinidad but expanded the effort to 185 after strong interest from employees and their families.
Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor Life Inc Robert Trestrail thanked participants and organisers for supporting the initiative.
“From Barbados to the Caribbean, and now across the American hemisphere, Sagicor’s legacy has been built not only through business success, but through people, communities and long-term investment in the future,” he said.
“Planting trees is a powerful symbol because trees outlive us and continue to provide value for generations.”
Vice-President of Marketing and Communications, Sagicor Southern Caribbean, Asha Nabbie said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability.
“Planting trees today is an investment in tomorrow, a lasting symbol of growth, resilience and hope for future generations,” she said.
Sagicor said the initiative will continue later this year with a Tobago Hike and Plant activity.
