Prison officer’s gun stolen from parked car at Caura

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are un­der way in­to the theft of a prison of­fi­cer’s gun from his car at Cau­ra Riv­er on Thurs­day.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cer parked his Toy­ota Aqua on the road near Pond 2 at around 12.45 pm and went for a swim.

He re­turned hours lat­er at around 3 pm and no­ticed the front left side win­dow bro­ken and his ser­vice is­sued M&P 2.0 pis­tol with 15 rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion miss­ing from the glove com­part­ment.

His wal­let, con­tain­ing his T&T Prison Ser­vice Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion Card and $450 cash, was al­so stolen.

Tu­na­puna Po­lice were called in and are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
