A prison officer has been arrested following an intelligence-led operation in Valencia that led to the discovery of ammunition and more than one kilogram of cannabis.
Police said officers of the Eastern Division Task Force carried out the operation on Friday between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm at a residence along Plantation Road, Valencia, under the State of Emergency Regulations 2025.
During a search of a bedroom, officers found a black knapsack containing six transparent wrappings of cannabis weighing approximately 1,014 grammes, along with one round of 9-millimetre ammunition.
Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene, and the suspect was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and possession of ammunition.
Enquiries into the matter are ongoing.
