A policeman from the Tableland police station was bitten by a pothound in an exercise over the weekend in the Southern Division.

The exercise took place between 4 am and 7 am on March 23 at Thomas Ross Road, off Sisters Road in New Grant.

The victim, PC Narine, and other officers were searching a house for illegal items when the dog bit his left leg.

The officer was taken to the Princes Town District Health Facility, where he was treated and discharged.

The dog was not euthanised, and no illegal items were found.
