Police search for runaway driver in Penal fatal

Po­lice are search­ing for the dri­ver of a van which struck and killed a 30-year-old house­wife in Pe­nal on Sat­ur­day night.

She has been iden­ti­fied as Afros Lal­loo De­o­nanan of six mile mark Pe­nal Rock Road.

Ini­tial in­for­ma­tion stat­ed that around 8.05 pm, she was walk­ing along the Pe­nal Rock Road near Hope Trace when a speed­ing white Isuzu swerved to the ex­treme left and slammed in­to her, drag­ging her along the road­way.

The van, which was pro­ceed­ing to­wards Moru­ga, nev­er stopped.

De­o­nanan's body was left in the mid­dle of the road. A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer viewed the body and or­dered its re­moval to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre.
