Police are investigating the theft of government-owned laptops from the Point Fortin West Secondary School.

The theft was reported by a teacher at the school.

The police were told that around on October 15, 19 students in the Technical Drawing class were issued with laptops provided by the government to use in the class.

The following day, however, the teacher was informed by another staff member that two of the Lenovo laptops were missing. She was also told that an On-the-Job trainee assigned the laptops under her name instead of registering each device to the individual student using it.

As a result, the proper procedures for issuing and returning the laptops were not followed, leaving no record of which students had used the two missing devices.

Police were further informed that two students were suspected of stealing the laptops. However, interviews with faculty members and students reportedly yielded no information to assist the investigation.
