Police officer stabbed by drunk pensioner

A po­lice of­fi­cer was among two peo­ple stabbed by an in­tox­i­cat­ed pen­sion­er on Sat­ur­day night.

Po­lice re­port­ed that WPC Lewis, at­tached to the Port of Spain Task Force, was stabbed in the chest by a male rel­a­tive.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, around 6.30 pm, Lewis ap­proached the at­tack­er and warned him about his drunk­en, ob­scene out­bursts. Dur­ing the con­fronta­tion, the 75-year-old man stabbed her once on the left side of her chest.

When her friend, Roger Chat­ter­goon­s­ingh, in­ter­vened, the at­tack­er al­so stabbed him once in the ab­domen.

Of­fi­cers from the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion re­spond­ed and ar­rest­ed the sus­pect.

Both vic­tims were tak­en for med­ical at­ten­tion. Lewis was tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty, while Chat­ter­goon­s­ingh was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex.

The at­tack­er al­so was tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty for treat­ment.
