Police hunt suspect after shots fired during patrol

Po­lice are search­ing for a La Hor­quet­ta man who re­port­ed­ly shot at them while they were on pa­trol in the area.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 7pm on Wednes­day night mem­bers of North­ern Di­vi­sion North Task Force South, led by Cpl Browne, were on mo­bile pa­trol in Phase 7 when the in­ci­dent hap­pened.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cers were in a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle when they ob­served a group of men lim­ing around an un­kempt lot of state land near Bob Git­tens Street. On see­ing the po­lice ve­hi­cle, the men re­port­ed­ly ran in dif­fer­ent di­rec­tions with the of­fi­cers chas­ing af­ter them.

One of the men re­port­ed­ly turned and shot at them. Cpl Browne re­turned fire, how­ev­er the man kept run­ning and man­aged to es­cape by jump­ing over a wall.
