Police arrest suspect in ‘robbery with aggravation’ sting operation

One sus­pect was ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing a po­lice sting op­er­a­tion con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers at­tached to the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Rob­bery and Lar­ce­ny Mo­tor Ve­hi­cle Unit on Wednes­day.

The op­er­a­tion took place be­tween noon and 3:00 pm and was car­ried out as part of in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to a re­port of rob­bery with ag­gra­va­tion.

The ex­er­cise was led by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaikaran, ASP Bharath and ASP Pierre, with su­per­vi­sion by Sgt. Steven­son.

Po­lice said the op­er­a­tion fol­lowed en­quiries in­to a rob­bery with ag­gra­va­tion which oc­curred on De­cem­ber 4, 2025, along St. Michael Road, Arou­ca. Dur­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions, of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion re­lat­ing to a white Toy­ota Axio, which was re­port­ed to have been used in the com­mis­sion of the of­fence.

At about 1:00 pm on Wednes­day (Jan­u­ary 14, 2026), of­fi­cers ob­served the ve­hi­cle while it was with­in the St. Joseph Po­lice Dis­trict. The ve­hi­cle was in­ter­cept­ed and one sus­pect was tak­en in­to cus­tody.

The sus­pect is a 36-year-old man of Pri­vate Fur­ness Road, Laven­tille. He was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the re­port of rob­bery with ag­gra­va­tion.

Po­lice said the sus­pect and the mo­tor ve­hi­cle were con­veyed to the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion. The ve­hi­cle was seized as part of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing and are be­ing con­tin­ued by of­fi­cers at­tached to the Arou­ca Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment.

Charges are yet to be laid in the mat­ter.
