Pipeline leak repairs completed at San Fernando East Secondary

Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed says re­pair, clean-up and restora­tion works fol­low­ing a pipeline leak at San Fer­nan­do East Sec­ondary School have been com­plet­ed.

In a state­ment is­sued Mon­day, the com­pa­ny said the af­fect­ed sec­tion of the trunk pipeline was re­paired and the area ful­ly re­me­di­at­ed.

Her­itage re­port­ed that in­de­pen­dent gas and air qual­i­ty tests con­firmed that read­ings were with­in ac­cept­able safe­ty lim­its. In ad­di­tion, im­pact­ed ma­te­ri­als were re­moved and per­son­nel and equip­ment de­mo­bilised from the com­pound.

The com­pa­ny said school of­fi­cials have been for­mal­ly ad­vised that en­vi­ron­men­tal con­di­tions are safe and class­es can re­sume.

Class­es were dis­rupt­ed on Fri­day as Her­itage car­ried out mop-up op­er­a­tions af­ter oil was dis­cov­ered on the school’s com­pound.

The clo­sure raised con­cerns among some par­ents and res­i­dents.
