PH driver abducted and robbed in Cunupia

A PH taxi dri­ver was ab­duct­ed and robbed by three men dur­ing the ear­ly hours on Fri­day as he stopped to drop off a pas­sen­ger in Cunu­pia.

The har­row­ing or­deal lat­er end­ed with the sus­pects dri­ving to the vic­tim’s house, where they or­dered him to hand over a cer­tain amount of cash or they would kill his fam­i­ly.

Po­lice said the 31-year-old vic­tim of Hum­ming­bird Av­enue, New Set­tle­ment, Ch­agua­nas, had been ply­ing his car for hire when he stopped to drop off a woman at 2 am at Marchin Road, Cunu­pia.

Re­ports said that as he ex­it­ed the sil­ver Nis­san B15, three men walked up and cov­ered his head with a cloth, af­ter which they bound his hands and feet be­fore bundling him in­to the back seat.

The vic­tim said the men drove him to an un­known lo­ca­tion where they robbed him of a Sam­sung A16 cell­phone, $800, and US $120 in cash.

They then placed him in the trunk of his car be­fore dri­ving to his home at Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road, where they de­mand­ed $3,500 in cash or they would kill his fam­i­ly.

The fright­ened man hand­ed over the mon­ey, af­ter which the sus­pects drove off in his car.

Po­lice are search­ing for the sus­pects, who they said in­clud­ed a Span­ish-speak­ing man.
