One held, three firearms seized in overnight operations

One man was ar­rest­ed and three firearms were seized dur­ing State of Emer­gency op­er­a­tions con­duct­ed overnight in the North­ern and North East­ern Di­vi­sions.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force car­ried out an op­er­a­tion be­tween 7 pm on Thurs­day 27 No­vem­ber 2025 and 5 am on Fri­day 28 No­vem­ber 2025. Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers searched a Nis­san Sen­tra mo­tor ve­hi­cle in the Grand Bazaar dis­trict.

Po­lice said the search led to the dis­cov­ery of two black firearms and eight rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. A 31-year-old dri­ver of Pe­tit Val­ley was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the finds. The ex­er­cise was led by ACP Col­lis Hazel, Snr. Supt. Ram­nar­ine, Supt. Ram­sook and ASP Singh.

In a sep­a­rate op­er­a­tion, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the Mal­oney dis­trict be­tween 6 pm and 9 pm on Thurs­day 27 No­vem­ber 2025. The ex­er­cise was led by Supt. Mc Ken­zie.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to Ja­cana Av­enue, where they searched a car park and found one firearm loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing two rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The ex­er­cise in­volved Sgt (Ag.) For­ge­nie, W/Cpl (Ag.) Si­mon, PCs Carter, Fish­er, Gopaul, Vil­laroel, Wil­let and Yallery, and WPCs Sween and Di­a­mond.
