One held after revolver and ammunition seized in police exercises

One man was ar­rest­ed and a firearm, am­mu­ni­tion and a bul­let­proof vest were seized dur­ing an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions in the South West­ern and North­ern Di­vi­sions this week.

In the first ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers of the Cu­mu­to Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment con­duct­ed an op­er­a­tion be­tween 1 pm and 4 pm on Thurs­day. Of­fi­cers went to Train Line Road, Mal­abar, where they searched an aban­doned struc­ture.

Dur­ing the search, of­fi­cers found one mag­a­zine con­tain­ing eight rounds of am­mu­ni­tion and one blue bul­let­proof vest. No ar­rests were made in con­nec­tion with that find.

In a sep­a­rate ex­er­cise in the South West­ern Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an op­er­a­tion in the Siparia dis­trict around 10.15 pm on Wednes­day. Of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at the home of a 45-year-old sus­pect.

Dur­ing the search, of­fi­cers found one re­volver loaded with six rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. The sus­pect was at the house at the time of the search.

He was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
