One dead, teen among three wounded after Belmont attack

A dri­ve-by shoot­ing in Bel­mont end­ed with the death of a 28-year-old man and the wound­ing of three oth­ers on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said Ke­mar Miller al­so known as ‘Ja­maikie’ was sit­ting on an emp­ty beer case with three friends on Davis Street, around 9 pm, when a grey Nis­san AD Wag­on drove past them.

The car stopped some dis­tance away, as three masked gun­men got out and shot at the group.

Miller died at the scene, while passers-by took the wound­ed trio to hos­pi­tal.

Po­lice said two of the wound­ed men, one of whom is a 14-year-old boy, was shot in his chest and is in crit­i­cal con­di­tion. The third, a 27-year-old man, is in sta­ble con­di­tion and was shot in his right leg.

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain CID and the In­ter Agency Task Force (IATF) vis­it­ed the scene and found nine spent 45 cal­i­bre shells and nine spent 5.56 shells.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion I Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
