Former Minister of Public Utilities Nizam Baksh called for peace worldwide as Muslims celebrated Eid following Ramadan. Speaking at the Barrackpore Islamic Centre, he described Eid as a time to strengthen unity and build “camaraderie and relationships” that extend beyond the Muslim community.

Baksh expressed concern over global conflicts, including tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, and urged leaders to prioritise peace over war. He said people must remember their shared humanity, warning that even small nations should remain vigilant amid international instability.

Mufti Jameel Ali encouraged reflection during Eid prayers, urging believers to strengthen their connection with God and remember those suffering in conflict zones such as Palestine.
