The maxi taxi driver who was seen allegedly assaulting three licencing officers along the Southern Main Road in Curepe last week has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police reported that the incident occurred around 10 am while Motor Vehicle Officers Kairron Hayter, Keston Price and Andy Saroop were carrying out duties along the roadway when they were assaulted.
Officers arrested Rondell Bowen in connection with the incident, and after legal advice was rendered, instructions were later issued for Bowen to be charged with common assault and assault on a peace officer.
Police then laid the charges.
Bowen appeared before Master Rehanna Hosein at the Tunapuna High Court on Friday, and during the hearing, Bowen entered pleas of not guilty to both charges.
The court granted Bowen bail in the sum of $75,000 with surety.
The matter was adjourned to a later date.
