Man shot while stopping to take phone call

A Mar­aval man who stopped to an­swer a call on his cell phone along Nel­son Street in Port-of-Spain on Sat­ur­day night, was shot twice by gun­men.

The 41-year-old man of Sad­dle Road in Mar­aval, was dri­ving down the street around 9:30 pm on De­cem­ber 27, when he re­ceived a call and de­cid­ed to stop near South East Port-of-Spain Sec­ondary School to an­swer the phone.

He saw two armed men ap­proach­ing his car.

The vic­tim at­tempt­ed to speed off as the gun­men shot at him.

He lat­er re­alised he had been shot in the right calf and left hand and drove him­self to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mt Hope, where he was treat­ed and dis­charged.
