Man shot dead outside home in Santa Rosa Heights

A busi­ness­man said to be in his late 60s was shot dead out­side his home in San­ta Rosa Heights, Ari­ma on Mon­day evening.

Res­i­dents iden­ti­fied the vic­tim as Za­ck Pooran, a pop­u­lar sta­tionery store own­er.

Res­i­dents of the usu­al­ly qui­et com­mu­ni­ty said they heard a se­ries of gun­shots short­ly af­ter 6 pm. One wit­ness re­port­ed hear­ing about six shots fol­lowed by two more mo­ments lat­er.

Pre­lim­i­nary in­for­ma­tion in­di­cates that Pooran had just dri­ven in­to his yard along Pome­gran­ate Av­enue and en­tered through his gate when a gun­man fol­lowed and opened fire on him.

He was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
