Gunshots rang out on Saturday evening, ending the life of 35-year-old Kijana Matthew Codrington, whose body was later found on a roadway in Marabella.
Police said that around 6 pm, several loud explosions had been heard in the area, then officers received a report of a body at Granada Terrace. Responding officers found Codrington lying on the eastern side of the roadway.
Codrington, of Riverside Drive, Gulf View, La Romain, was identified by his mother, Ann Marie Prescott.
Emergency medical personnel examined him at the scene but found no signs of life.
A district medical officer later visited, pronounced Codrington dead, and ordered the removal of the body to the Forensic Science Centre pending a post-mortem examination.
Investigators recovered ten spent 9-millimetre ammunition casings from the roadway.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted next week.
Investigations are continuing.
