A man is in police custody after officers recovered stolen cheese during an operation in the Tacarigua district on Tuesday.
Police said the exercise took place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. by officers of the North Central Division in connection with a report of larceny of food products at a distribution company in the Macoya district on March 18.
Management of the company reported that 50 cases of cheese, weighing 20 kilogrammes, were missing.
Officers conducted enquiries which led to a search at a supermarket in Tacarigua. During the search, police recovered all 50 cases of cheese reported stolen.
A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find.
Police said the operation was led by Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaikaran, ASP Bharat, Insp. (Ag.) Peters and Insp. (Ag.) Rollocks.
Officers attached to the North Central Division Criminal Investigations Department, Operations Unit and the North Central Division CID Area West-Tunapuna also took part.
