Man chopped, beaten in Gasparillo attack

A 29-year-old man is hos­pi­talised af­ter he was se­vere­ly beat­en and chopped dur­ing an ear­ly morn­ing at­tack on Mon­day.

The man, of Charles Street North, Gas­par­il­lo, was found bleed­ing from mul­ti­ple chop wounds af­ter of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port at Bap­tiste Street.

He told in­ves­ti­ga­tors that around 12:25 am he was walk­ing along Charles Street near Ex­tra­or­di­nary Doors when a sil­ver Toy­ota ve­hi­cle stopped and three men got out and at­tacked him.

The vic­tim said he was beat­en and chopped about his body with a met­al ob­ject be­fore man­ag­ing to es­cape and hide un­der a tar­pau­lin on a near­by street.

He was tak­en by am­bu­lance to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed for mul­ti­ple chop wounds to his hip, neck, and head, as well as mul­ti­ple frac­tures to his hands, hip, spinal cord, and skull.

He al­so suf­fered a brain lac­er­a­tion that caused haem­or­rhag­ing.
