Kidnapping victim recovered in Central Division operation

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed the safe re­cov­ery of 57-year-old Suraj Ram­lakhan fol­low­ing a mul­ti-agency, in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tion in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Wednes­day night.

Ram­lakhan was ab­duct­ed on Sat­ur­day 14 March 2026, with a ran­som sub­se­quent­ly de­mand­ed for his re­lease.

Po­lice said the re­cov­ery re­sult­ed from co­or­di­nat­ed in­ves­tiga­tive ef­forts and a tar­get­ed op­er­a­tion led by DCP Natasha George, ACP Richard Smith, and Snr Supt An­der­son Pa­ri­man.

Of­fi­cers from the An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Unit, Cy­ber Crime Unit, Home In­va­sion Unit, and North­ern Di­vi­sion Gang Unit fo­cused their ef­forts near Roops­ingh Road, Cara­pichaima, where in­tel­li­gence in­di­cat­ed the vic­tim had been seen. Sys­tem­at­ic search­es of a gal­va­nized shed and ad­join­ing veg­e­tat­ed ar­eas were con­duct­ed, sup­port­ed by the TTPS Air Sup­port Unit, which used in­frared drone re­con­nais­sance un­der the di­rec­tion of Ag. ASP Ram­pal­lard.

The An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Unit sub­se­quent­ly re­cov­ered Ram­lakhan, who was re­leased be­tween 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm yes­ter­day (March 18, 2026). The vic­tim guid­ed of­fi­cers to the lo­ca­tion from where he had made his way to rel­a­tives along Roops­ingh Road, who alert­ed au­thor­i­ties.

He was tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty for med­ical at­ten­tion.

Po­lice said in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing, un­der the di­rec­tion of the An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Unit.
