Investigations ongoing into shooting of Penal labourer

​In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to the shoot­ing death of a 25-year-old labour­er in Pe­nal yes­ter­day.

​Col­lis Meade of Sun­rees Road, Pe­nal, died while un­der­go­ing treat­ment at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal around 10:30 am.

​Meade walked with his 35-year-old com­mon-law wife, his wife’s cousin, and a girl­friend along the S.S. Erin Road when a white car ex­it­ed Batchyia Trace and stopped along­side them.

​The front seat pas­sen­ger alight­ed and fired sev­er­al shots at them, then re-en­tered the car which sped off.

​Meade sus­tained mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds and was tak­en to the Siparia Health Fa­cil­i­ty be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to the hos­pi­tal.

​Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­trieved eight spent shells at the scene. In­ves­ti­ga­tors are still try­ing to as­cer­tain why he was killed.

​Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion 3 are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
