Industrial Court announces new appointments

The In­dus­tri­al Court of Trinidad and To­ba­go has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of His Ho­n­our Melvin Daniel as Chair­man of the Es­sen­tial Ser­vices Di­vi­sion.

The Court al­so an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Their Ho­n­ours Adri­an Dar­manie and Ashti Sookhan as Mem­bers of the Gen­er­al Ser­vices Di­vi­sion.

His Ho­n­our Melvin Daniel has served as a Mem­ber of the In­dus­tri­al Court for over 11 years. He pre­vi­ous­ly worked in the Gen­er­al Ser­vices Di­vi­sion and now as­sumes re­spon­si­bil­i­ty for the Es­sen­tial Ser­vices Di­vi­sion. Be­fore join­ing the Court, he had over 30 years of le­gal ex­pe­ri­ence in Trinidad and To­ba­go. He served as a Mag­is­trate in the Ju­di­cia­ry, Se­nior State Coun­sel and State Pros­e­cu­tor in the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, and worked in pri­vate prac­tice at T Mal­colm Milne and Com­pa­ny. He al­so serves as an As­so­ciate Tu­tor at the Hugh Wood­ing Law School.

His Ho­n­our Adri­an Dar­manie has prac­tised as an at­tor­ney-at-law for over 34 years. He served in the Mag­is­tra­cy as a Mag­is­trate, Se­nior Mag­is­trate and Act­ing Deputy Chief Mag­is­trate. He al­so worked as State Coun­sel III in the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions and as Se­nior State Coun­sel in the So­lic­i­tor Gen­er­al’s De­part­ment with­in the Min­istry of the At­tor­ney Gen­er­al. He pre­vi­ous­ly worked in pri­vate prac­tice and with the Na­tion­al Hous­ing Au­thor­i­ty.

Her Ho­n­our Ashti Sookhan pre­vi­ous­ly served as a Le­gal Of­fi­cer in the Min­istry of Labour and Small and Mi­cro En­ter­prise De­vel­op­ment. She rep­re­sent­ed the Min­istry be­fore the In­dus­tri­al Court and High Court.

The Court said the ap­point­ments took ef­fect.
