Police said the incident began just before 1 pm when three occupants of a home along Valsayn Avenue, Valsayn North, were confronted by armed men.

A 79-year-old woman was warned by one of the intruders to remain quiet, but barking from the family’s pet pitbull alerted relatives, who responded to assist her.

The assailants fled the property by jumping over a wall.
