Handyman found dead in Penal garden

A Pe­nal woman got a shock on Wednes­day af­ter dis­cov­er­ing the handy­man she had hired ly­ing dead in her gar­den.

He was iden­ti­fied as 67-year-old Bhag­wan­di­al Ram­nanan of Lal­too Trace, Pe­nal.

The Clarke Road res­i­dent told po­lice she hired Ram­nanan to cut her yard and left him work­ing in the gar­den around 1.30 pm be­fore go­ing in­side her home. When she re­turned about ten min­utes lat­er, he was ly­ing on the ground and ap­peared un­re­spon­sive.

Emer­gency Health Ser­vices tech­ni­cians re­spond­ed but de­tect­ed no signs of life. A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer viewed the body and or­dered its re­moval to a fu­ner­al home pend­ing an au­top­sy.

Pe­nal po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
