Gun stolen in San Fernando police station heist recovered

Po­lice have re­cov­ered a firearm be­lieved to have been stolen from the San Fer­nan­do Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion and de­tained three men dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in St James.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) said of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and the West­ern Di­vi­sion Gang In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit made the dis­cov­ery dur­ing Op­er­a­tion Steady G.U.A.R.D on Mon­day be­tween 12 pm and 3 pm.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS, of­fi­cers searched premis­es along Up­per Belle Vue Road, Long Cir­cu­lar, St James, un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions 2026. Three men were present at the lo­ca­tion dur­ing the ex­er­cise.

Dur­ing the search, of­fi­cers re­cov­ered a black firearm re­sem­bling an M&P9 pis­tol with a de­faced se­r­i­al num­ber. The weapon was loaded with four rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion.

Po­lice be­lieve the firearm was among weapons stolen from the San Fer­nan­do Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion on April 19, 2026.

The firearm is be­lieved to have been among dozens stolen dur­ing the April 19 heist at the San Fer­nan­do Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion, where Act­ing Cor­po­ral Anusha Ever­s­ley was killed while on du­ty. Guardian Me­dia pre­vi­ous­ly re­port­ed that more than 40 firearms and hun­dreds of rounds of am­mu­ni­tion were re­cov­ered in the days fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent, as po­lice launched an ex­ten­sive in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the breach and the killing of Ever­s­ley.

The re­cov­ery rep­re­sents a sig­nif­i­cant de­vel­op­ment in the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the theft of firearms from the po­lice fa­cil­i­ty.

The op­er­a­tion was sanc­tioned by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Williams and led by Act­ing Su­per­in­ten­dent Mo­hammed, with co­or­di­na­tion by In­spec­tor Grant and su­per­vi­sion by Cor­po­ral Khan and Cor­po­ral Sa­ha­dath.

The three men were de­tained un­der Sec­tion 13(1) of the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions 2026.

Of­fi­cers from the West­ern Di­vi­sion Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit processed the scene, and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
